How to pass OSHA 30
Show up for the hours. Know the Focus Four and fall numbers. Ignore “real exam dump” PDFs. Then use practice to make the trainer’s test less of a surprise.
Step 1 — The class is the exam
OSHA 30 is a 30-hour course, not a DMV-style permit test you can take in a kiosk. Authorized trainers track attendance. Miss hours and you do not get the card, even if you can recite 1926.501.
Use the OSHA Outreach Training Program page to understand who may issue a card. If a site sells a “card in 2 hours” or a PDF of “100 official answers,” walk away.
Step 2 — Study what actually kills people
Construction 30-hour classes spend the most time on the Focus Four because that is where fatalities cluster:
- Falls — usual construction trigger 6 feet (29 CFR 1926.501); scaffolds often 10 feet; body belts are not fall arrest
- Struck-by — vehicles, falling objects, flying tools
- Caught-in/between — trenches (protective system by 5 feet in construction, unless in stable rock), unguarded equipment
- Electrocution — overhead lines, damaged cords, missing GFCI, LOTO when servicing
Supervisors also get more time on how a program is supposed to run: inspections, competent person, recording injuries, and talking to a crew before a task. If you are taking General Industry 30, drill walking-working surfaces (often 4 feet), 1910.147 lockout/tagout, HazCom / SDS, and machine guarding instead of assuming every number is the construction 6-foot rule.
Step 3 — Practice without cheating yourself
This lab’s OSHA 30-style construction mock is 50 original questions, 35 to pass. The OSHA 10-style mock is 25 questions, 18 to pass. Fall protection (15 questions) is free. The rest of the 808-item bank is $9.99 for 30 days on this device.
Read every explanation. A guessed green check does not help you on the trainer’s test. California: confirm Cal/OSHA Title 8 when your site is stricter than federal OSHA.
Common questions
How do you pass OSHA 30?
Complete 30 hours with an authorized Outreach trainer and pass their knowledge check. This site is independent practice only.

What score do you need?
Ask your trainer. Many use about 70%. Our mock uses 35/50 (70%). That is not an official OSHA cut score.

No. $9.99 unlocks practice. Cards come from authorized trainers after the hours. What we are.
